The old Casino to Murwillumbah rail line is set to be severed for a third time after the NSW Government decided a wooden railway bridge at Rifle Range Road, Bangalow, has ‘reached the the end of life limit on certain bridge elements’.

Residents living adjacent to the works received notification about the removal last week.

It is likely to cause further concern to advocates of returning rail to the line and its impact on the proposed rail trail is unknown at this stage.

The work will be undertaken by John Holland Rail, which is contracted to ‘maintain’ the Country Regional Network.
