$10,000 for the Northern Rivers Rail Trail was raised at the inaugural Bangalow BBQ and Bluegrass Festival held on 2 August. The money raised will be used for the ongoing costs and expenses running the campaign to get the rail trail up and running. This was a great event with outstanding music and food and our thanks go to the Festival Organiser Fletcher Potanin for his generosity in supporting the rail trail. The following is the quote from the BBQ and Bluegrass website:
Northern Rivers Rail Trail – This year we are also supporting a local infrastructure initiative, the Northern Rivers National Rail Trail project from Murwillumbah through Byron Bay and Bangalow to Casino – a great cultural initiative connecting the community to great music venues via more than 132 kilometres of walking and riding tracks
Photo shows a cheque from the Festival organiser Fletcher Potanin being handed to the rail trail team. Others in the photos including (from left) Marie Lawton, Glenys Ritchie, Barry Longland and Steve Martin.
The NRRT team also ran a sausage sizzle on the day – thanks to our sponsors for their support.
